A Message From Your Pastor

I n the Apostles’ Creed, we confess that Jesus, “suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.” The suffering and death that Jesus endured for us was great. It has been documented medically all that happened to Him so that we would not have to. As we approach another Lenten season in a few weeks, this is the time of year that we more closely examine all that Jesus did for us. On Ash Wednesday, we will begin an examination of Jesus' various wounds that healed us at the cross. We will begin a Lenten Sermon Series titled, “Our Savior’s Wounded Body.” This series will look at a different body part each week that was wounded and bruised at the hands of sinful men who put Jesus to death.

We will look at the hands and feet of Jesus, His side, the fact that as the Scriptures proclaimed, His bones were not broken. And we will look at the blood of Jesus as well. The precious blood of Christ has saved us from our sins. Jesus was sacrificed as those Passover lambs were centuries before. A slaughter that we deserved for wayward sheep wandering from the Good Shepherd of our souls. Jesus gave His all so that we might live and live eternally. Join us each Wednesday night starting February 18, Ash Wednesday, as we see a little bit closer the agony that Jesus went through as he bore our sins on the tree of Calvary for all people. “O my God, my rock and tower, grant that in Your death I trust, knowing death has lost its power since you crushed it in the dust. Savior, let Your agony ever help and comfort me; When I die be my protection, light and life and resurrection.”

A Winter Wonderland of Art and Traditions

Thanks to everyone who joined us for Kristkindlmarkt! Whether you set up a booth as a vendor or stopped by to find the perfect present gift, we are so glad you made it out to celebrate with us.

This festival is more than just a market; it's a revival of an Old World Christmas tradition. It was wonderful to see the community come together to support local artists and spread genuine Christmas cheer.

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:2)

There’s nothing better than singing our favorite Christmas carols either at church or at home. Not only do they help us prepare for Christmas and celebrate our Lord’s birth and coming into this world, but like all the hymns, they also bring such great theological truth about God and the salvation that Jesus has won for us. This Advent and Christmas season join us as we learn more about these hymns and carols as we begin our Advent and Christmas theme, “Songs of Salvation.” Each week during our Midweek Wednesday services, we’ll explore a different Advent and Christmas favorite and how it relates to Christ’s birth and the salvation he came to bring to all people.

We will explore five beloved Advent and Christmas hymns beginning on December 3 at our first Advent Midweek. I’m sure you can guess what hymn we will explore on Christmas Eve and we’ll look at another well known and loved Christmas carol on Christmas Day as well. These hymns hold such great theological truths and share with us the Good News about Jesus and not only His birth, but also His atoning death and resurrection that saves us now and for eternity. For our Lord came to this earth to die. He came to die and take upon Himself our wretchedness so that we can live with Him forever. Be sure to join us for our Christmas Hymn Sing on the third Advent Midweek on December 17. Singing these beloved Christmas hymns is a major part of what makes this time of year so special. Hope you can join us! Happy Advent! “Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her king; Let every heart prepare Him room and Heaven and nature sing and Heaven and nature sing, And heaven and heaven and nature sing.”
